“Rusholme are a shining example of people finding each other at the right time.”
Exclaim! Class of 2023, Megan LaPierre
Who we are
Toronto-born and stage-raised, Rusholme has emerged as one of the city’s most compelling new rock acts, carving out a space where alternative grit meets the melodic punch of modern pop. Known for emotionally charged anthems and captivating live shows, the project channels urgency, vulnerability, and explosive release in equal measure. With a loyal and fast-growing local following, Rusholme’s sound resonates with fans of Paramore, The Band CAMINO, and Michelle Branch, balancing introspection with arena-ready hooks.
At the center is powerhouse vocalist Sam Abbygail, whose commanding presence defines the project much like Hayley Williams does for her band. When you think of Rusholme, you think of Sam. Whether backed by the full band or holding a room entirely on her own, she delivers the same, if not greater, intensity and connection. Her performances blur the line between confession and catharsis, pulling audiences into every lyric and leaving them feeling seen.
Rusholme’s live shows are immersive and unfiltered, capturing the raw edge of performance while preserving the emotional weight at the core of each song. There is a pulse running through the project that speaks to love, identity, ambition, and the beautiful chaos of growing up in a hyperconnected world. More than just a band, Rusholme is a feeling. A soundtrack for late-night walks, unresolved conversations, and the kind of honesty that lingers long after the last chord fades. With undeniable momentum and a clear artistic voice, Rusholme is poised to define Toronto’s next wave of rock.

Rusholme are a shining example of people finding each other at the right time. “Every member is the perfect piece to our puzzle and we've all found some healing in that," bandleader Sam Abbygail says of their first six months as a band, “so we're doing everything we can to showcase that magic." The quartet will be capturing that alchemy to tape, as they're in the process of recording the band's debut LP — and they're looking forward to feeling reenergized in the studio with all the feel-good chemicals they know they'll receive performing at the Monarch. Rusholme's big-hearted, angsty anthems embrace a nostalgic mentality, looking for solutions to problems we already know the answer to. Sometimes it takes a melody to access your inner knowing.

Rusholme is a Canadian indie rock band from Toronto, Ontario. Fluent in melancholic expression, their style reflects the war of words between our inner monologue and sense of self. Combining grandiose instrumentation and emotive vocals, Rusholme delivers a powerful performance on and off record. Diving head first into the deep end, selling out a headline show as their first debut, Rusholme proves they are no stranger to the Toronto local music scene.
